DiY is not cheap, however, there are many ways to make it less expensive. Doing an interior door makeover adds character to your existing simple door and is a great way to save on some money.
There are many ways you can update your old doors.
Personally, I was really wanting new doors, but it was just not in our budget. Here is how I added character to my door.
I also did this in my living room if you would like to see it on another door in a different color. Here is that link.

Here is the simple door I started with . . .
Step 1 - Get Some Trim
Pick out trim that you like at the store.
I got mine at Home Depot.
Step 2 - Cut Trim
Measure the trim, how you want, and cut at a 45 degree angle.
Step 3 - Make Trim Design to Add Character
Next, you are making your design on your door.
I decided to go for three squares on the door. A taller on on top, a small one for the middle and a medium size one for the bottom.
Reference the end photo if needed.
You will use wood glue and a few nails in each piece of trim.
Make sure you are leveling off the trim.
Step 4 - Caulk
Caulk your trim and let it dry.
Then, paint your door!
This is what I ended up with.
I have used this trick to update many of my house flips.
It makes the door look a million times better and it is so cheap and easy to do.
